Hypnosis has always interested me. So much so, that after I successfully utilized hypnosis to help me stop smoking, I attended an intensive training course and became a certified

hypnotherapist. While I don’t claim to be a “hypnotist” per se, or sell my services in a hypnotherapy practice, I do use the skills I learned on a daily basis to help friends and family.

Hypnosis has proved to be a remarkable tool in helping myself and others with a very wide range of issues. I’ve been helped to quit smoking, and I’ve helped others lose weight, reduce pain, recall repressed memories, reduce stress and improve golf games and more!

Deep within each of us lies our subconscious. The subconscious is the part of the brain where hypnosis is most effective. While we may not realize it, our subconscious is hard at work each day and night. The subconscious takes care of some very important areas in our lives, such as:

Our conscious mind on the other hand is busy judging, analyzing, criticizing and solving problems. It is the logical, “thinking” part of the brain. When someone experiences hypnosis, (which we all do in some form or another each day), that conscious, critical, analyzing part of the brain is bypassed, and information flows directly to the subconscious.

When the analyzing part of the brain is bypassed or pre-occupied, the subconscious is wide open for suggestions! In a nutshell, that is what the hypnotist does. He/she will use an “induction” to relax the subject and “occupy” the critical part of the brain. Then when the subject is sufficiently hypnotized, the hypnotist will employ various methods to help the person overcome whatever problems they are having.

Imagination is the language that the subconscious can really relate to. So many times, a hypnotist will use stories & metaphors to program the subconscious.

It’s not imperative that a hypnotist or hypnotherapist, be the person that works with you on a particular problem. There are a host of great CD programs available today that make self-hypnosis available to everyone in the comfort of their own home. If you have a very specialized issue or it’s something that will require more personalization, then by all means I would recommend checking your local yellow pages for a good hypnotherapist. But you can now find audio programs available for just about anything.

Recently, many of the programs that you would have ordered on CD in the past, can now be purchased online, and downloaded immediately! Hypnosis is one of those things thats best to act on quickly. If you put it off for any great length of time, most people will find some reason why they no longer need help….(and of course they still do!) So I suggest “striking while the iron is hot” and start changing your life today!

Throughout this site, I will post news, facts and articles about self-hypnosis, to better inform those that want to know more. If you really want to make changes in your life, I suggest you look into hypnosis. It’s very powerful, it works fast and you will come to find it very relaxing and peaceful. For me, it’s like taking a trip wherever I want to go, (without drugs or alcohol!)
