Should You Go See A Hypnotherapist?

Many people are confused as to why or when they should go to a “live” person for help with a problem. Lots of issues and problems can be solved with self-hypnosis, but sometimes people need more, so it’s important to understand when to seek advanced help.

Audio hypnosis programs are wonderful. You can lay in bed, (not asleep), or in your favorite recliner or couch, and feel total relaxation while you’re programming your subconscious mind for improvement. There is no need to go in search of a reputable hypnotherapist and schedule appointments. And unless you’ve been to a hypnotist or hypnotherapist before, the tension of “not knowing” what is going to take place can be awkward.

But an audio program is typically not tailored specifically to you. High quality programs will do a good job of covering most all of the bases, but they have to be somewhat general to be useful to everyone that purchases them. There are hypnotherapists that will “custom make” CD’s designed especially for you, but these can be very expensive and still won’t stack up to a personal visit.

You see, sometimes a problem that we’re experiencing may be tied to an event that took place earlier in our life. A good hypnotist/hypnotherapist, will take the time to talk to you and learn more about your background. They will ask pointed questions to try and get to the real root of a problem. Then when they hypnotize you, they will use what they’ve learned in the interview, to work directly with any underlying issues. Often this means going back to the hypnotist multiple times to resolve a deep seated issue which may turn out to be the “real reason” you have a fear of heights or whatever.

When I get asked about this, I’ll typically tell someone to give self hypnosis a shot first because the majority of the time, it will provide the relief you’re looking for. Good audio programs are available at a fraction of the cost that several office visits to a hypnotherapist will run, and typically come with anywhere from a 60 day to a 1 year guarantee. And the CD’s are going to be there to listen to if you ever slip back into a bad habit. A busy hypnotist may not be able to get you scheduled right away which may be too late? Thats another reason why I believe it’s so important to learn self-hypnosis. You’re not always going to have access to that therapist!

Ultimately the choice is up to you. If you’re comfortable giving self hypnosis a try with the help of audio CD’s or MP3′s, by all means do so. If you think that you may have deeper issues that require the assistance & guidance of a real person, do your homework and ask around to find the best possible therapist for your problems.
