Today I put together what I think will be a nice subliminal weight loss MP3. The best part…it’s FREE! I have to admit I enjoy sharing these with others. I hope you will find it helpful! What do I want in return? Just an message to let me know what you think of it and whether it helps you or not. Got a special request? Let me know!

My subliminal MP3′s are a little different than others. You can actually hear the voices in mine. The volume of the voice is low enough that it might be hard to hear…but don’t worry about that. Your subconscious will be getting the messages even if you can’t hear it very well.

Just put this MP3 on your favorite player, plug in your ear buds and kick back & relax. It won’t be long before you should start noticing that you’re beginning to lose weight.

I recommend listening to this audio at least once per day. Listen to it somewhere where you’ll have some peace and quiet for about 20 minutes. Early in the morning is preferred, but right before bed would work as well.

This is a subliminal recording and SHOULD NOT BE LISTENED TO WHILE DRIVING OR DOING ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES YOUR ATTENTION!

I can’t really “tell” someone how to perform self hypnosis. I believe that each of us is different and we have different ways of doing things. What may work really well for me, might now work just right for you. So I’m just going to give you some ideas and best practices to help you.

I personally like to be “guided” in hypnosis. By that, I mean I personally like to listen to some type CD or MP3 that basically walks me through the hypnosis session. I can create my own recordings, but I have to admit that I don’t like listening to myself. I spend more time paying attention to how I sound or how I “didn’t say that word right”. In the end, I don’t get as much out of those sessions as I should. Of course I can always create a script or buy one and modify it to fit my needs, then have my wife or someone else read it for my recording. I’ve done that before. But these days I don’t do as much hypnosis as I do meditation, so thats a little different.

So “where” should you do your self hypnosis? Well…the good news is that you can really do it anywhere. Especially after you’ve done it a few times and entering the hypnotic state becomes easier. Let me add this disclaimer though: YOU SHOULD NEVER PERFORM SELF HYPNOSIS WHILE DRIVING A VEHICLE OR DOING SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES YOUR FULL ATTENTION! When you hypnotize yourself, you will be in a very focused state. But if that focus isn’t on driving your car, then you could find yourself in an accident. Save your hypnosis sessions for a time when you don’t need to be alert to your surroundings.

If you’re doing hypnosis without a recording, you should write down what it is you’re trying to accomplish with hypnosis. An easy way of doing this is to write down some positive “affirmations” that relate to whatever changes you would like to make. For instance, if it is your goal to lose weight, some affirmations might be, “I can now visualize myself at my ideal weight”, “I enjoy foods that make me thinner”, “I enjoy being healthy”, “My heart works more efficiently as I lose more weight”.

Hypnosis works best when you use as many of your senses as possible in your visualizations.

And you want to focus on one goal. Don’t try to lose weight, quit smoking and become a better public speaker, all in the same session. You will get much more out of it if you focus on just one positive change.

Starting out, I recommend you find someplace where you won’t be disturbed. No kids, no pets, no ringing phones, etc. I can assure you that a phone ringing right when you hit that “zone”, is enough to make you pretty angry! A comfortable chair works well as does lying in bed or on a couch. I will often put on some soft, relaxing background music.

The Induction – I like to pick out a spot on the wall or ceiling and focus on that spot. You can blink, but try to keep your eyes on that one area. As you do this, take 3 or 4 deep breaths. Hold your breath for a few moments when you inhale. As you exhale, feel the tension leave your body along with your breath. Feel your body and limbs just relax and sink down into whatever you’re sitting on or lying on.

After you take a few deep breaths, close your eyes and picture or imagine some place that really makes you feel very happy and very safe. It doesn’t matter if it’s some place that you’ve been before or perhaps some place you’d like to go. Just go to this special place in your mind. This place will be used in future self hypnosis sessions, so pick some place that you really enjoy.

As you’re imagining this special place, use your senses to “see” the area in your minds eye. “Smell” any smells that are exclusive to the area. What do you “feel”? Can you “hear” anything? Can you “taste” anything? For instance, if your scene is a beach scene, you might be able to see the ocean rolling in on the beach. You might feel the cool sand on your toes or the mist coming off the ocean. you might be able to smell the ocean or suntan lotion. You hear the waves crashing up on the beach and can hear seagulls as they fly overhead in search for food. You might even be able to taste the saltiness of the ocean. When you use your senses, this place will soon become very real and you’ll be able to go back there easily, anytime you wish.

After spending a few minutes of enjoyment in your new favorite place, it will be time to start thinking about those affirmations you came up with. Think about those affirmations and what they really mean to you. Again, try to use as many of your senses as possible, to really “live out” those affirmations. If you want to lose weight, “see yourself” at your ideal weight…and really picture that in your mind!

Take as much time as you need to, to think about those affirmations. 5 to 10 minutes should be sufficient.

Now it’s time to emerge from the trance. Repeat to yourself, “I’m now feeling refreshed, wide awake and alert to my surroundings”. Slowly open your eyes. It can also be good to rub your hands together several times until you generate a little “heat energy”, the massage your face up alongside the bridge of the nose, up to the forehead, over the eyebrows and down the side of your face.

So this is just a suggestion on how you might perform self hypnosis.

If you asked 5 people what hypnosis is, you’d probably get 5 different answers. The following are the opinions of some very respected individuals in the hypnosis field.

From William Broom, Chief Executive& Registrar, The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council:
Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by mental and physical relaxation, in which our subconscious is able to communicate with our conscious mind. It is widely accepted as a most excellent method by which we may access our inner potential. The state of mind referred to may be brought about either by oneself, unaided (self-hypnosis) or with the help of another person.

From Eric Greenleaf Ph.D.:
The notion of hypnosis is to help a person, by focusing and searching inwardly, to utilize all his learning and skills to resolve his problems, and to do so with the aid of unconscious learning and understanding. What scientists do when they “dream up” inventions and theories, what statesmen do when they “sleep on it” before solving problems of state, what athletes do preparing for a match by “visualizing” the flight of the ball. This is the sort of thing hypnotized persons do to apply themselves to difficult problems of living.

Hypnosis is based on respect for us as a whole organism, in all that complexity and unique experience that has made us who we are. It may be thought of as a state of mind which can imitate many of the original and useful actions of the mind, body and spirit. In hypnotic trance a person may experience reduced pain, heightened sensation, strong emotion, remembering and forgetting, imaginings and creativity and an enhanced sense of self. Hypnosis points people toward those capacities within themselves and the learning they contain.

From Krasner, A.M. The Wizard Within: ABH PRESS, 1990/1991:
Hypnosis is “a process which produces relaxation, distraction of the conscious mind, heightened suggestibility and increased awareness, allowing access to the subconscious mind through imagination. It also produces the ability to experience thoughts and images as real.”

Healing by trance state (hypnosis) is one of the oldest phenomena known to man and is found, in one form or another, in virtually every culture throughout the world. The hypnotic state is, in most respects, entirely dissimilar to sleep.
So what do I personally believe the definition of hypnosis is? In my opinion, hypnosis or self hypnosis is a very relaxed state, where the conscious mind or “guard” is occupied or allowed the ability to wander. With the “guard” out of the way, the subconscious mind or “computer” is now open to accept beneficial suggestions as given by a hypnotist or hypnosis CD or tape. The guard may be occupied but it’s still there and available should a suggestion come in which goes against ones morals or values.

Shy people instinctively know that they are missing out. Shyness equals lost opportunities, less pleasure and fewer social connections. Shyness can be crippling but there are tried and tested ways to make it a thing of the past.

When I was fifteen I was shy. I recall an attractive girl attempting to engage me in conversation. My shyness made me focus on me instead of her. I heard my own voice but not hers and I thought about what I was trying to say instead of what she was trying to say.

The formula for shyness is “too much focus on the self” plus anxiety. To make it even more unpleasant, sometimes when you are feeling shy you experience physical sensations which ‘hijack’ your calm logical self.

My pulse raced, my mouth dried up and I felt like the village idiot! I couldn’t think what to say so I said nothing apart from making barely audible grunting noises! Cary Grant eat your heart out! When I detected pity in her eyes (or was it contempt, or boredom) I mumbled my excuse and got out of there. I hated being shy and was determined to change it.

How shyness is developed and maintained

Shyness really is a combination of social anxiety and social conditioning. To overcome shyness you need to learn to relax socially. This enables you to direct your attention away from yourself and gives you the space to practice certain conversational skills. In most cases, the heightened emotions of socializing when young simply condition the sufferer to respond to social events with fear, instead of excitement and pleasure.

Relaxed socializing is so pleasurable, not to say productive, but it is an advantage denied to many until they learn to relax. To start reducing your own shyness, I want you to absorb the following tips and ideas and start to put them into practice:

1) Think about the way you feel and behave around familiar people you are comfortable and spontaneous around. It’s that feeling transferred to new people and situations that equates to your emerging social confidence.

2) Focus your attention away from yourself. Sure, you can think a little bit about how you are coming across, but if all your focus is on your own words and feelings then you might as well be by yourself. Notice what other people are wearing and make a mental note, listen to their conversation, imagine where they might live, make a point of remembering names. Not only does this give you more to talk about, it also ‘dilutes’ social anxiety leaving you feeling calmer.

3) Ask people open questions. Many people like to talk about themselves and will find you interesting if you find them interesting. Ask questions that require more than a ‘yes’/'no’ response such as ‘What do you like about this place?’ rather than: ‘Do you like this place?’ Once they’ve answered use ‘add-on’ questions connected to the first such as: ‘What other places do you like in this city.?’ Next you can express your views. This is a great way to get the conversation going. If the conversation doesn’t ‘take’ then no matter, you’ve done your bit.

4) Stop trusting your imagination so much! Have you ever had an imaginary picture in your mind of a holiday destination only to arrive and find the reality is different from the way you had imagined? That’s how reliable imagination is. Stop imagining what others think. I do lots of public speaking and I’ve long since stopped trying to second guess what others think of me – it’s just too painful. Besides, what a person thinks about you has a lot more to do with who they are than who you are.

5) Stop using ‘all or nothing’ thinking. The ‘completely this/completely that’ style of thought occurs when you are emotional. People who are depressed, angry or anxious see reality in terms of differing extremes, simplistic all or nothing terms. An angry person is ‘right’ and you are ‘wrong’; the depressed person feels like a ‘failure’ while others are a ‘success’. In reality, life is composed of infinite gray areas. So stop fearing that you might say the ‘wrong’ thing! Or that people will ‘hate’ you. Once you start to relax more socially you’ll notice much less black or white thinking because anxiety actually causes you to think in all or nothing terms.

6) Take your time. You don’t have to blurt things out. Ask questions and if questions are asked of you can take time to consider your response (within reason). Don’t just blurt out what you think might be the ‘right’ answer. A slow answer is a relaxed answer.

7) Finally, use hypnotic rehearsal. Hypnosis is the quickest way to change your instinctive/emotional response to any situation. Only think about meeting others when your mind and body is relaxed. This conditions you to associate relaxation with being around new people. In fact you’ll find that when you relax deeply enough often enough whilst hypnotically rehearsing being comfortable around others you’ll reach the point where you just can’t be shy any more! This is what I call a ‘happy inability!’

I now love meeting new people and suspect that my current social confidence would be unrecognizable to my fifteen year old self.

Do you find yourself reading or studying and suddenly realize you don’t have a clue what you just read?

Have you ever seen a book you read in the past and wondered what on earth it was about? If you’re lucky you might remember just a few ideas from it. Have you heard someone mention a movie that you know you’ve seen, but can’t seem to remember what the plot was about?

What would life be like if you could recall 3, 4 or 5 times as much as you can now from a book? You’d be more intelligent, make better grades, save lots of time and achieve so much more. Who knows, it could be the difference between your dream job or something you really don’t want to do. Your confidence in your own abilities would also increase immeasurably.
How memory works

There are many different processes to memory. For something to be recalled later it needs to be laid down properly in the first place. When you experience or learn something new the impression has to be laid down in a part of the brain called the hippocampus which stores short term memories. So if someone tells you their phone number you store it in your short term memory either until you write it down and forget it or until you use it so much that it becomes stored in your long term memory.

Hypnosis & Self Hypnosis are the perfect tools to help you lay those memories down correctly AND give you easy, fast access to those memories. Learn more about memories.

I’ve put together a FREE hypnosis MP3 for memory and concentration which you can find on this page. Please feel free to download and send to others if you’d like.
