Today I wanted to share some tips with you as you prepare to quit smoking. It doesn’t matter if you’re using self-hypnosis, some form of nicotine replacement therapy or quitting cold turkey, it’s always best to be being prepared.

First of all, here is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend, Healing Wisdom Series: Stop Smoking Naturally No matter what method of quitting you use, this book offers some great advice! I didn’t find the book until “after” I had quit smoking and was putting together programs to help others stop smoking. The book is relatively cheap and is full of great advice! I guarantee you’ll like it!

One of the tips mentioned in this book is to raise the alkalinity in the body by eating foods that are higher in alkaline. The basis of the theory is that the more acidic the body is, the faster the nicotine will flush from it. While at first you might think thats a good thing, in reality it is better to allow the nicotine to be removed “slowly” from the body so that any withdrawal symptoms are reduced in intensity. The book provides you with a much more detailed explanation of how the process works.

Foods to consider the first week:

If you think it’s just too hard to go for a week without a steak, then you probably aren’t too concerned about quitting smoking. It’s going to take a little sacrifice to get through this.

Fruits and vegetables serve another purpose. Due to metabolic changes that occur in the body when it is no longer getting it’s “nicotine fix”, some people tend to put on a little extra weight. Many people will naturally reach for something to eat when they don’t have a cigarette in their hand. It’s important to keep your home and refrigerator stocked with good, healthy foods during this transition period. Fruits and vegetables make excellent choices because they are so good for you and they’re quick and easy to fix.

I’ll be back with more tips that will help you when you quit smoking. In the meantime, have a great day!
