Hypnosis For Headaches & Migraines

I guess I’m fortunate. My wife suffers from some pretty serious headaches occasionally and I know others do as well. Thank goodness I don’t. I have a relatively minor headache every once in a while, but nothing that really interferes with my daily activities.

For my wife, many times her doctor prescribed headache medicine will not even do the trick? She’ll go for two or three days with the pain! I couldn’t imagine what that would be like.

So this past weekend, I ordered a hypnosis CD for her called, “Hypnosis: The Headache Solution“. Of course…at the moment, she hasn’t had a need to use it, but I know it’s only a matter of time. If you suffer from migraines or serious headaches, you’ll want to check back here in the next week or two when I get a chance to follow up and I’ll let you know how the CD works for her.

Have a great day!

Hi Sauna Kid - I’ll be glad to share my findings on the product. I guess it’s good to say that my wife hasn’t had to use the product yet, but in a way I’m anxious to see how it works!

Cool. Let us know if it works for her. i’m always skeptical about these types of things. Never sure if they work or not.

Hi Scary - I’ll certainly provide a report. Nice “Scary” site by the way!

I’ll have to forward this on to a friend of mine that has some pretty terrible headaches. I don’t know if she has considered hypnosis to treat them. Great stuff!

Hi Bryan - Yes…feel free to share with others. The nice thing about these programs is that you can use them over and over, vs. a one time trip to a hypnotherapist. Not to mention the money back guarantee if it doesn’t perform as claimed.

Hi Eve - Sorry to hear you suffer with those headaches :(. If you do try the CD, please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

They actually tested some self hypnosis cd’s on the tv show Mythbusters. Their conclusion was that it didn’t work.

Wow, I’m very interested to see if this works. I know some friends who suffer terribly from headaches.

                          • Chris on August 21st, 2007 7:47 am

Matt - I don’t think that hypnosis is something that can be proven or dis-proven on one show of “mythbusters”. In a staged situation where you’ve got the lights, cameras, production crews and people running all around the place, it doesn’t surprise me that they didn’t get good results.
I’m living proof that hypnosis “is” effective. Now, you can choose to believe me or not…that is up to you. But I can assure you that I have seen many people helped with hypnosis and hypnosis CD’s, including myself. There are far too many hypnotists and hypnosis products in the world to say it doesn’t work.
But…I accept your opinion and I’m glad to post it here because not everyone believes in it and thats ok.
                            Thanks for your comment!

I’ve suffered from migraines for years and had recently got shot of them for a couple of months after visiting a acupuncturist. Unfortunately they are now back with a vengeance so I’m keen to give this a shot.

i didn’t know that hypnosis helps headaches and migraines? my friend often suffer bad headaches too. She uses a traditional remedy, so she says…by tugging small amounts of hair randomly over your head. Guess it’s like some sort of massage. Maybe your wife can give it a try.

hi domdat, it actually works. I myself have tried. It kinda distributes the tension around your head with a light massage. another way i’ve heard is to massage the palm area below the thumb. It’s a pressure point. When you apply pressure on your palm and feel a distinct pain, that’s where you’re supposed to massage.

It’s our body’s way of telling us what is wrong that needs to be fixed. Some headaches cause by cervical or neck problems can be corrected by a specific adjustment of the cervical spine. Your chiropractor can take and x-ray and help diagnose the root cause.

If one could clear the spine of subluxations and free the flow of the nervous system a lot of good things can happen and a lot of bad things could go away too! All the best to your back!

Back pain can have many causes and can be as mild as a muscle spasm to a tumor. I do not wish to scare you but if it gets you going to get it checked, then its worth it.

Taking drugs will only mask your symptoms will the root problem may become worse. Not sure how old you are, but if you’re over 40yrs (sure don’t look it from your pic ;)) then the chance of disc herniation is very low.

Here’s some thought and guesses without knowing your full condition:

                                                                                                                  1) If you’re pain is relieve from standing and worse on sitting, then we are looking more at a lumbar spine type problem.

                                                                                                                  2) Do you get morning stiffness that gets better overall throughout the day?

                                                                                                                  3) Do the symptoms subside or feel better with a hot shower?

                                                                                                                  4) you mentioned pain relief with activity, do you also get pain in buttocks at night?

                                                                                                                  5) Did you experience this pain gradually from your hip/buttock up to the lower back or lumbars?

                                                                                                                  6) Pain does not radiate down the thigh or below the knee, correct?

If you answered “yes’ to all the above, then you may want to go and get an xray to rule out Ankylosing Spondylitis. It occurs between age 15-30yrs and 3 times more prevalent in males.

I hope I scared you enough to go get checked and xrayed.

                                                                                                                  Best regards,

Basically, you most probably have a “lumbar verterbra subluxation.” A specific bone on your back has moved slightly backwards and as a result puts pressure or impinged on your nerves. Best illustration I could give is like stepping on a garden hose which reduce proper flow.
Which chiropractor should I go is your next question? You could of course come see me if you are in South Carolina ;) Most chiropractors do not prescribe drugs, I believe that’s the MD’s job. Find one in your area that uses the Gonstead or Thomson technique. If you let me know which area you are I might be able to refer one to you!

All the best! Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

It’s too generic. Most chiropractor place their hands in a certain fashion are place one on top of the other sort of overlapped, palm face down.

                                                                                                                  Tim

I could have used this cd a while ago when I had bad headaches like this. Turns out mine were only from a severe sinus infection, but I’ll pass this on to those I know with headaches. I wish your wife all the best!

I will take a look at that product you have recommended since sometimes medication is no help at all.
