Self Hypnosis Experiment For Migraine Headaches

It’s been quite some time since I posted about my wife’s experience with migraines and my “experiment” to see how this CD would work for her. I’m happy to say I “finally” have some results to share with everyone!

As you will recall from my previous post, my wife regularly experiences severe migraines. These headaches aren’t just a mild discomfort, they’re debilitating headaches which usually keep her in bed for at least 24 if not 48 hours. She has a prescription from her doctor for the headaches, but the medicine only offers mild relief.

I guess it’s safe to say that my wife isn’t quite the “believer” in self hypnosis that I am. So I wasn’t sure just how effective this hypnosis CD would be for her. But you know…when you have a headache that literally puts your life on hold, you’re open to anything that might help…even if the relief is minor.

At first I was beginning to wonder if she would ever have another headache after I purchased the CD :). What had been a seemingly regular occurrence, now wasn’t happening? Not that I wanted my wife to have a migraine, but I was anxious to see just how well the CD program worked. We joked that maybe just having it in the house was doing the trick?!?! Then about 3 days ago, she called me while I was at work and told me her head was killing her! She was working at the time, so I told her that I would pick up our daughter from school, and she was to go home, crawl in bed, put on the headphones and start listening to the “headache CD”.

When I arrived home about 4 hours later, she was resting peacefully in bed, so I didn’t disturb her. About 45 minutes later, I was cooking dinner when she walked into the kitchen. I asked how she felt, and she said she really felt pretty goodl! She did still have some minor discomfort, but nothing like she had experienced earlier in the day or previously when she had headaches. I was a bit afraid that the relief was only temporary, and that she’d be back in bed before long. Much to my surprise, she ate dinner and watched tv for the rest of the evening until we went to bed! For good measure, I asked her listen to the cd program again as we laid down. The next morning, she was up before me and said she hadn’t felt this good in quite some time!

Obviously, this is not a scientific test by any means. It’s impossible to say whether this was just a mild, short lived migraine…or whether the CD was really that effective. Considering her past experiences, I tend to believe that this CD really did offer her a LOT of relief!

Dr. Maggie Phillips, the program’s creator, uses relaxation and imagery as the basis for this treatment. The concept is simple, but the effects are pretty impressive. Dr. Phillips is a licensed psychologist in full time private practice Oakland California. She also trains psychologists worldwide in the use of hypnosis for pain management. She’s been doing this for over 20 years…so she’s definitely doing something right!

So…I have to say that I would recommend this little audio program to you or someone you know that is plagued by migraines. We’re talking about $39, and a 1 year money back guarantee if you feel it doesn’t work for you. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t let $39 get in the way of freedom from pain!

One important point that I can’t stress enough. As I’m sure you know, pain is a sign that something is wrong with your body. For regular migraine sufferers, you’ve probably had headaches long enough to know exactly what it is. For someone that has just started having severe headaches or migraines, your first visit should be to your doctor to make sure that the headache isn’t a more than “just a headache”. I’m not a doctor, “and I don’t even play one on TV :) ), so do yourself and favor and talk to your personal physician about your symptoms.

I sincerely hope and believe that this self hypnosis CD will help a lot of people. If you do try it, I would really like to receive feedback on what you think of it so that I can share with my readers.

This truly is an experiment, but i think the conclusions are not exactly very trustworthy.
Pain can mean something else sometimes.

Interesting…I’m curious why you feel the “conclusions are not exactly very trustworthy”?

And I totally agree that “pain can mean something else sometimes”. I specifically reference that in my post when I say,
“One important point that I can’t stress enough. As I’m sure you know, pain is a sign that something is wrong with your body. I was very excited with the way that things turned out, (even though time will tell just how effective this program is). My wife was thrilled with the way this CD has helped her and thats really all that matters to me.

I can sympathize with you, my mother suffers from similar debilitating migraines. I’ll be sure to mention this procedure to her, and hopefully she can share in your wife’s success.

I have often awful migraines but is not that bad. Usually is because stress and work but I wouldn’t try a hypnosis anyway. I would go see a better doctor.

I will pick hypnosis over drugs if these were the only 2 choices I have ;)

This is a great read! My wife has horrible migraines at least once a month and she refuses to take any medication for it. I think I’ll direct her to this website to try something new which may help!

                      Cheers,
